Current method of cleaning the gun barrel requires several people with a steel brush at the end of a long rod which is manually inserted down the barrel repeatedly.
Due to the linear movement of cleaning device perfect cleaning can never be achieved specially against the tilted formation inside the rifled barrels. This also way does damage to barrel severely.
Manual method is also difficult to perform in environments such as practice, night combat and heavy activity areas which could affect the performance of the barrel as proper cleaning is essential to ensure the perfect working conditions
VIPER Robots from Gridbots can automate the task of inspecting the barrel wihtin few minutes and provides umpteen information about the condition of the barrel and level of pitting and depth and dimensions of the pits.
After the inspection and generating the report in 3D - Viper robot can be used to automate the task of cleaning the barrels where they are fitted for soft nylon brush mechanisms to remove carbon deposits, copper slags, Fouling , post-combustion residues from gun barrels, ensuring optimal performance of the gun.
After the brushed cleaning cycle - A soft cloth based cleaning is applied and a lubrication cycle is also carried out to protect the barrel surface from corrosion.
A drying mechanism in incorporated in the robot to instantly dry the barrel.
Thus extending its life span of the barrel considerably.
